Dr. GK Bhatt

Dr. GK Bhatt is an educator who has taught biology to high school, undergraduate, and postgraduate
students for the past 46 years, along with guiding Ph.D. and M.Phil students. He received the “Best
Teacher (2001-02)” state award from the Karnataka state government. He has published more than 30
research papers in reputed national and international journals and discovered five new species of
amphibians (Gegeneophis madhavai, Gegeneophis goansis, Gegeneophis mhadeiensis, Nyctibatrachus
dattatreyaensis, and Ichthyophis davidi). He has visited the Natural History Museum, London and
Catholique University, France for collaborative research work and has experience as a reviewer for
notable journals such as Current Science, Journal of Bioscience, Zoo Outreach, and the Department of
Science and Technology. He has reviewed a book on ecology for Tata McGraw-Hill and has co-authored
five textbooks for I and II PUC and medical entrance examinations.
